Privacy and your data
What SaveGuild keeps, why, and how to see, revoke or delete it.
See or delete your data
Sign in with Discord to see the servers you verified for, revoke one, or delete everything SaveGuild holds about you. This sign-in only asks for your profile.
You can also remove SaveGuild in Discord under User Settings, Authorized Apps.
If you verify for a server
- Your Discord user ID, username, display name and avatar
- Which servers you verified for, and when
- An encrypted Discord authorization with the two permissions you approved: seeing your profile, and adding you to a server
The authorization is used only to add you back into a server you verified for, or its replacement if the server is lost, when that server's admins choose to. Each time you're added, SaveGuild's bot sends you a Discord message saying so, with a one-click opt-out that stops that server adding you again. Members who verified before this was possible are only ever added to a replacement until they verify again. It's encrypted, never shown to server admins, and deleted when you revoke it or when no verified servers are left. SaveGuild doesn't ask for your email and never sees your password or messages.
Protection checks when you verify
A server can set rules to keep out alt accounts. SaveGuild checks your account's age (from your Discord ID) and whether you have a profile picture. If you're refused, nothing about you is kept except an entry in that server's audit log saying which rule refused you.
On Pro and Ultimate, a server can also block VPNs: your IP address is sent to proxycheck.io at the moment you verify to ask whether it's a VPN or proxy, and isn't stored by SaveGuild. A server can also block several accounts verifying from one connection: SaveGuild then keeps a one-way, keyed code made from your IP address for that server only. It can't be turned back into your address or matched across servers, and it's deleted when the server turns the rule off or you delete your data.
If you manage a server with SaveGuild
- Your Discord user ID, username, display name and avatar
- Which of your servers you added, and whether you can still manage them
- An encrypted Discord authorization used to check which servers you manage
- The actions you take, in each server's audit log
- The browser you signed in with and when, shown on your account page so you can spot sign-ins you don't recognise
SaveGuild asks Discord for the list of servers you're in only to find the ones you can manage. Servers you don't add aren't stored.
Server data
For servers added to SaveGuild, backups store the server's configuration: roles, categories, channels, permission overwrites and settings. They don't include messages. The audit log records important actions in each server. Images a server uploads for its verification page are stored by SaveGuild and shown to anyone who opens that page.
Payments
Paid plans are handled by Stripe. SaveGuild stores the Stripe customer and subscription IDs and the plan's status, and shows your invoices from Stripe on your account page. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach SaveGuild.
Cookies
SaveGuild uses a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in to the dashboard, and short-lived cookies that protect sign-in and verification. There's no advertising, analytics or tracking.
Who else handles data
- Discord, for sign-in, verification and the bot
- Stripe, for payments
- proxycheck.io, only for servers that turn on VPN blocking
- The hosting provider that runs SaveGuild and its database
How long data is kept
- Dashboard sessions expire after 30 days without use, and sign-in history is kept for 90 days
- Member data is kept until the member revokes it or deletes it
- Backups are kept until they're deleted or replaced by newer scheduled backups
- Servers removed from SaveGuild are deleted with their data 30 days later
- Audit entries are kept for the server's record; a member who deletes their data is removed from them
